Ray is a retired police officer and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He previously ran an after-school program called Sir Friendly C Inc. for 20 years, which focused on preventing youth drug use and gang violence. He also served as a motivational speaker for churches, organizations, and schools. Ray currently serves on the Executive Kentucky Lottery Board and works with the organization Man Up.
Political background
Ray previously ran for District 43 of the Kentucky House of Representatives in 2016 but was disqualified from the race for failing to meet filing requirements. He also ran for Louisville Metro Council District 5 in 2022 but did not win.
