Randy Lawson studied fire science at Jefferson Community and Technical College and drafting at Eastern Kentucky University. He lives with his family in Jeffersontown, Kentucky. 

Randy currently works as the executive director of the Kentucky Firefighters Association. He previously worked as an instructor at Kentucky Vocational Education, a fire chief with the Jeffersontown Fire Department, a batchman at Holloway Ready Mix, and a scale clerk at Martian Mariette Materials.
