Melinda Hill earned her bachelor's degree in accounting from Union University and master's degree in business administration from Western Kentucky University. She previously served on the boards of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and Students Turning Education Into Potential. Melinda lives with her husband, Chris, and two adult children in Bowling Green.

Melinda was previously the Chief of Staff of the Finance and Administration Cabinet for Kentucky and Deputy Commissioner for the Department of Revenue. She has also served as the vice president of the Inter-Modal Transportation Authority, controller for the Center for Information Technology, and director of training for Southern Foods, Inc.

Melinda is currently a Bowling Green City Commissioner. She was first elected in 2011 and has served multiple terms. She has also served as Mayor Pro Tem. for two terms.
