Amanda Ferguson graduated from Henry Clay High School in 1984, received her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Kentucky in 1988, and earned her master's degree in psychology from Vanderbilt University in 1992. She and her husband have three children.

Amanda is a part-time employee at Breeze Financial LLC. She previously worked as the executive director of Surgery on Sunday Inc., a program administrator at Partners for Youth, a campaign manager for Pam Miller for Mayor, and an assistant director at the Mediation Center of Kentucky. 

Amanda is currently a member of the Fayette County Public Schools school board representing District 4. She was first elected in 2006 and served until 2014. She was re-elected in 2022 and her current term expires in 2026.
