The city council voted Tuesday night unanimously to enact a moratorium on data centers. Council members said a temporary pause on accepting such applications would help the city prepare. Miller said she appreciates any interest in developing technology in Versailles, but they want to be prepared first. “We are so unfamiliar with data centers, and it’s happened so quickly that we wanted to not offend anybody, so we wanted to stop it in case someone was looking at property in our community and give us an opportunity to be educated, and I think that’s the important part,” Miller said. The resolution states that the city will not accept or process zoning change applications or permits reflecting plans for a data center.
