Henry Calvin "Hank" Johnson Jr. is from Washington, D.C. He has a bachelor degree in political science from Clark College (now Clark Atlanta University) and a law degree from Texas Southern University. He and his wife, Mereda Davis Johnson, have two adult children.

Hank is a U.S. Representative. Before taking office, he practiced law for 27 years in Decatur, Georgia, specializing in criminal defense, civil rights, and personal injury law. He also served as a magistrate judge for 12 years and as a DeKalb County commissioner for five years. 

Henry previously worked as an attorney with a focus on criminal defense, civil rights, and personal injury law and a magistrate judge. 

Hank is currently a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Georgia's 4th Congressional District. He was first elected in 2006 and is currently serving his 10th term.
