John Carson is from Tucker, Georgia. He earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Georgia State University and his master's degree in finance from Kennesaw State University. He lives with his wife, Beverly, and their two children in Roswell, Georgia, and attends Johnson Ferry Baptist Church.

John currently works as the managing partner at Armagh Capital. He previously worked as the managing director of sales at State Tax Incentives, Inc., the director of public policy and business development at Monarch Private Capital, the vice president senior finance manager at SunTrust Bank, and a loaned executive at the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta.

John currently serves as a member of the Georgia House of Representative, representing District 46. He was first elected in 2010 and is serving his eighth term.
