Adrienne Simmons is from Waukegan, Illinois. She has a master's degree in reading, language, and literacy from Georgia State University, and a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Clark Atlanta University. She and her husband, Jamar Simmons, have two children.

Adrienne is an educator. She joined Teach for America after graduating from college. She has also worked as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, literacy coordinator, and statewide administrator. For the last five years, she has worked at the Georgia Department of Education. 

Adrienne is currently a member of the Gwinnett County Public Schools Board representing District 4. She was elected in 2023 and is serving her first term.
