## Protect Arizona’s Investments from racist Ideology
Elijah believes Arizona’s investments should be in companies that provide a good or service and make a profit – not engage in political activism or racial activism – of any type. Elijah will make sure that Arizona’s investments are being invested in companies that are not politicized – on either side of the aisle.

Action Plan - Elijah Norton for Treasurer

When addressing the topic of ideology in the state’s economic dealings, both candidates are against the two intermingling.

Norton said he would “invest in companies focused on making money and providing a service,” and added that he would not be “investing in companies that engage in ideology,”.

Norton said he thinks Yee has run the office well.

He said one thing he would like to implement as treasurer is oversight of the state’s auditing office. With the treasurer overseeing the auditor general, Norton said the office can run better and more independently of the Legislature.

He poked fun at Yee who, in press releases, said that the assets her office is managing nearly doubled from $15.4 billion in 2019 when she was first elected.

He said during that time there was growth in state population and property value, state lands were sold off and the proceeds put into the trust, and cities, who can invest through the Treasurer’s Office have gained the ability to tax internet sales.

“If you take our portfolio to somebody who actually understands investments, they’re going to say we should have about $3 billion to $5 billion more than we actually do,” Norton said.

“I’m not saying we should take risky bets,” he said. “I want to go to the office every day, do my job, and apply my experience to getting better returns for the taxpayers.”

Norton also shared two of the advocacy focused things that he would like to do if he were to take on the position.

“Number one, I’m absolutely going to promote financial literacy. That’s the thing that I look very much forward to doing. I love, you know, doing whatever I can to help people become better at managing money personally. But I think that the bully pulpit is another key thing,” Norton said.

## Root Out Waste, Fraud, and Abuse
Elijah Norton is committed to identifying wasteful spending, eliminating fraud and abuse, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are used responsibly. By increasing accountability and reviewing how state funds are spent, we can put more money back in the pockets of Arizona taxpayers. Elijah wants to work with the legislature to conduct a first of its kind Arizona's Audit - an audit of the entire state budget to cut out fraud and return that money where it belongs - to the people of Arizona.

## Expand Educational Freedom and Parental Choice
Elijah Norton will expand access to Arizona’s 529 education saving plan so parents have as many choices for their kids as possible. He’ll also be a strong advocate for school choice and education freedom across our state.

## Serve as a Check on Bad Financial Policy
Politicians – both Republicans and Democrats – waste our money. Elijah Norton will serve as a watchdog for taxpayers and will call out politicians in either party who waste taxpayer dollars or attempt to pass bad financial bills. Elijah Norton will be an independent voice in the Treasurer’s office to represent ALL Arizonans and ensure that taxes stay low and our investments stay safe and secure.
