Nate has a master's degree in public policy from the University of Minnesota. He has two children.

Nate is a middle school teacher at Anthony Acres Charter School and teaches American Government at Chippewa Valley Technical College. 

In 2022, Nate Otto ran for the Wisconsin State Assembly as a Democrat but did not win.
