Cynthia is a born and raised Charlottean. She graduated from UNC-Greensboro in 1976 and earned a master’s degree with a Montessori concentration from Lander University in 2009. She lives in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Cynthia is a retired educator. She taught at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools from 2005 to 2023. Before returning to teaching, she worked in New Jersey in various business roles, including sales, technical training, and operational management. She began her professional life in 1976 as an elementary school teacher with Chatham County Schools.
