Charles is a human resources director. He served in the Army Reserves for 21 years as a non-commissioned officer. He also co-directs the Faith C. Webber Community Foundation, Inc.

Charles is currently a member of the Shelby City Council, representing Ward 5. He has served on the council for three years.
