Alana Huber is from Atlanta, Georgia. She has a bachelor's degree in nursing from Georgia College & State University, a master's degree in nursing education from the University of Arkansas, and a postgraduate certificate in forensic science from the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. She lives with her husband, Mike Huber, in downtown New Bern. She is a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Alana is the president of AH Forensic Consulting, Inc. She previously served as a Naval Officer in the U.S. Navy for 22 years, where she deployed aboard ship, worked in the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, and served with the Marine Corps as a Fleet Marine Force Qualified Officer. She retired in June 2021 as the Director of Public Health aboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point at the rank of Commander.

Alana's campaign for New Bern Alderman, Ward 1, is her first entry into politics.
