Marlissa Crawford is a mother, community leader, and 16-year resident of Atlanta’s Westside, as well as the proud parent of two Atlanta Public School graduates and a current APS student, giving her firsthand insight into the challenges and opportunities facing families in District 2. A graduate of Morris Brown College, she spent 13 years as a Paralegal in Employment Litigation, Civil RICO, and Insurance Defense before becoming a small business owner with a women’s boutique in Downtown Atlanta, and now works as a Flight Attendant, each role strengthening her skills in listening, empathy, and building connections across diverse communities. Marlissa has carried that tradition forward through leadership on PTA and PTO boards, as a founding member of the Ashview Heights Neighborhood Association, and as an active member of Impact Church and The Magnolia (GA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. Guided by the words of Maya Angelou and Shirley Chisholm, she is driven by fairness, transparency, and resilience, and as a candidate for Atlanta School Board District 2, she is passionate about ensuring equity, opportunity, and excellence for every APS student.
