Andy Gibbs is from Valdosta, Georgia. He has a bachelor's degree in marketing, a master's degree in education, and a specialist's degree in performance-based leadership from Valdosta State University. He lives with his wife, Hilary, and their two daughters in Valdosta. He attends Park Avenue United Methodist Church.

Andy Gibbs is a public school teacher at Valdosta Middle School, where he has taught STEM Connections since 2011. He previously spent eight years in management in the private business sector before becoming a teacher. He also runs Top Recruit Punting and Kicking, a business he co-founded in 2002 after meeting his partner at an NFL camp.

Andy is currently a member of the Valdosta City Council, representing District 6. He was first elected in 2017 and re-elected in 2021. He is currently serving his second term.
