Phil has a bachelor's degree and master's degree in business administration from Dallas Baptist University and a law degree from Texas A&M University School of Law. Phil lives with his wife, Terry, in Weatherford, Texas. He is an active member of Trinity Bible Church.

Phil currently works as a small business owner and attorney. He previously worked as a police officer in Fort Worth and served in the Texas State Guard. He also served on the board of directors and as vice chairman of the Texas Conservative Coalition Research Institute

Phil King currently serves as a state senator in State Senate District 10. He was first elected to this position in 2022 and is serving his first term. He previously served as a state representative in State House District 61. He was named to that position in 1999 and served for 11 full terms.
