Ellen earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin. She lives with her husband, Caleb, and their 3 children. They are active in their local church. She currently serves as the toast of the town chair for the St. David's Foundation. She was a member of the ice ball host committee for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas. She previously served on the board of directors for Ballet Austin, on the host committee for Rodeo Austin, and as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Ellen is the co-founder and managing broker for Troxclair Residential Real Estate Group. She previously worked as chief of staff to state representatives Jason Isaac and Wayne Christian, deputy chief of staff to state representative Betty Brown and legislative aide to state representative Phil King in the Texas House of Representatives. She is a senior fellow for the Texas Public Policy Foundation, President of the Alliance for Affordable Cities, and member of the Austin Luxury Network. She previously chaired the American City County Exchange. She authored "Step Up! How to Advocate like a Woman", written for Real Clear Politics, the Washington Examiner, and the Daily Caller, and has been a contributor for Fox News.

Ellen Troxclair is a state representative for State House District 19. She was first elected in 2022 and is serving her first term. She previously served on the Austin City Council.
