Delia Garza is a county attorney in Travis County, Texas. She was first elected in 2020 and is serving her 1st term. She was previously on the Austin City Council from 2014 to 2020, and served as mayor pro tem starting in January 2019. She is the first Latina to serve on the city council, and the first to serve as mayor pro tem.

Legal Experience

As a county prosecutor, oversees civil and criminal prosecutions, works with law enforcement agencies to gather evidence and investigate criminal and civil violations, and provides legal counsel and representation to state, county, and city officials in lawsuits against the government.

As a member of the Austin Firefighters Association, Local 975, represented firefighters during two contract negotiation cycles and was elected to the Local’s executive board.
