Aerion Andrew Abney currently serves as the State Representative for District 19 in Pennsylvania. He was first elected in 2022 and is serving his first term. He previously served as a Committeeman for the 21st Ward 4th District in Pittsburgh.

Abney currently works as the Pennsylvania director of special projects for a national voting rights advocacy organization. He previously worked as a program officer at the POISE Foundation, where he was responsible for strategic grant-making.

Abney is originally from Philadelphia and moved to Pittsburgh at age 18. He earned his bachelor's degree in communications and master's degree in social work from the University of Pittsburgh. Abney volunteers on the boards of the Hill District Federal Credit Union and Human Services Center Corporation, as well as the advisory board for the African American Achievement Trust Collective Focus. He also serves on the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County's My Brother's Keeper task force. Abney lives with his wife and their 2 sons in the Manchester neighborhood of Pittsburgh.
