Josh was born and raised in inner-city Toledo and currently resides in Sylvania Township with his wife, Neaira. He earned a bachelor's degree and a law degree from the University of Toledo. 

Josh is an attorney and also teaches constitutional law, criminal procedure, and criminal law at Adrian College in their undergraduate criminal justice program.
