Veronica earned a bachelor's degree in political science and criminal justice and a master's degree in public administration from the University of Akron. She is married to her husband Quintin, and they have a daughter.

Veronica currently works as a community outreach specialist for a cremation and funeral service company.

Veronica Sims currently serves as state representative for House District 33. She was appointed to the position in 2024. Previously, she has served on the Akron Public School Board, Akron City Council, and Summit County Council/District 5.

Veronica holds a bachelor's degree in political science and criminal justice and a Master's in Public Administration from the University of Akron.
