As the county prosecutor for the Tuscarawas County Prosecutor's office, Styer reviews the charges individuals are arrested for, determines which cases and charges will be tried in court, drafts and files documents and warrants, prosecutes criminal charges on behalf of the government, and provides sentencing recommendations for convicted felons.

As a village prosecutor for the village of Newcomerstown, Styer reviewed the charges individuals are arrested for, determined which cases and charges would be tried in court, drafted and filed documents and warrants, prosecuted criminal charges on behalf of the government, and provided sentencing recommendations for convicted felons.

As a private practice attorney, Styer researched, drafted, and filed legal documents, and provided defense and counsel to clients, specializing in divorce and criminal defense. In 2004, I took a position as village solicitor/prosecutor for Newcomerstown.

As a prosecutor, Styer helped establish a local child advocacy center, Noah’s Hope, which uses "best practices" for interviewing children in child abuse cases and provides medical and mental health care for child victims and community awareness and prevention training.

Sought grants to increase the number of victim advocates from 1 to 3.

Worked with the Sheriff to expand the local the drug task force.

As a prosecutor, Styer transitioned from hiring part-time to full-time prosecutors and added an, investigator, a new office position at the time.

Installed case management software, which allowed for paperless office affairs and for quicker and more efficient communication with law enforcement, victims, and office staff.
