Bethany is a lifelong Summit County resident who earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Akron. She is married to her husband, Judge Todd McKenney, and they have 2 children. They are church members at The Chapel.

Bethany has been a registered nurse for over 20 years and served as District Nurse for Manchester Local Schools for over 10 years. She has also served as the District Nurse for St. Francis de Sales and worked at other local schools. She previously served as an RN at Barberton Citizens Hospital and Akron General Medical Center.
