Emily E. Gallagher is an assemblymember in State Assembly District 50. She was first elected in 2020 and is serving her 2nd term.

Emily previously worked as an educator and public historian at the Tenement Museum and other local institutions. She later served as the Community Affairs Director for Hostelling International, focusing on sustainability and community engagement in the tourism industry.

Emily is originally from the Rochester area of New York State. She earned her degree from Ithaca College. She co-chaired the activist group Neighbors Allied for Good Growth (NAG) from 2008 to 2015 and wrote a weekly column for the local paper The Greenpoint Star starting in 2015. She has lived in Brooklyn since 2006.
