Jim Burgin is a longtime resident of Harnett County and was born in Knoxville, Tennessee. He attended The University of Tennessee Knoxville, where he graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Jim and his wife Ann have been married for 38 years, and together they have three children and four grandchildren.

Jim Burgin is the President & Owner of C&D Insurance with offices in Harnett County, Chairman of the Board to New Horizon Insurance Group, President of B.C. Property Inc., and a partner in John Hiester Automotive. He has served as a Harnett County Commissioner and is currently in his second term in the North Carolina Senate. Previously, he was a Board Member for Triangle Workforce Development.
