Keith is from Passaic, New Jersey. He has a degree in business management from William Paterson University of New Jersey. He and his wife Viki live in Chocowinity and have one son. Keith volunteers as the chairman of the board for Magoo's Christmas 4 Veterans and on the executive committee of the Beaufort County Republican Party. 

Keith is the owner of an H&R Block franchise in Beaufort County. Previously, he has worked as an independent agent for Aflac, a sales manager for Colorado Prime Inc, a support services manager for PAID Prescriptions and Vornado Inc, and in processing for H&R Block. 

Keith Kidwell is currently as a State Representative, representing North Carolina's 79th District. He is serving his third term, first elected in 2018. He is the chair of the Banking and Finance committees. He has previously served six years as the Beaufort County GOP Chairman.
