Marjorie is a lifelong North Carolinian who relocated to her family farm in the Triad after her husband, Hector, passed away. She attended Wake Forest University where she obtained her joint law and master's of business administration degrees.

Marjorie is an attorney and has taught part-time, most recently law at Belmont Abbey College. She has a background as a research scientist and has also worked as a teacher, coaching men's varsity soccer at Concord High and at a community college. Additionally, she has practiced law and managed a family farm in the Triad, focusing on crops such as flowers and honeybees.
