Jarrod is from Robeson County, North Carolina, and graduated from Purnell Swett High School. He earned a bachelors degree in political science from UNC-Pembroke. Jarrod and his wife, Jennifer, have a daughter together and he is also a stepfather to her two children. He attends Galilee Baptist Church in Red Springs, NC.

Jarrod is a partner at First Light Consulting. He served as a tank technician in the United States Marine Corps from 2006-2012. Previously he has worked as a community relations manager for Mountaire Farms, the director of Lumbee Tribe Enterprises, the regional field director for the North Carolina Department of Insurance, the regional field director for the Office of Governor Pat McCrory, and a collections representative for BB&T.

Jarrod Lowery is currently the State Representative for State House District 47. He was elected in 2022 and is serving his first term. He served as an elected member of the Lumbee Tribal Council from 2015-2021, where he chaired the Federal Recognition Committee and the Economic Development committee.
