Monica Jean Gillett was raised by her grandparents in Hendersonville, North Carolina, where she eventually made her home in 2000. She attended Blue Ridge Community College on a scholarship and later earned a full ride to the University of North Carolina in Asheville. Monica pursued her Juris Doctorate at the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University.
