Paul attended Pamlico County High and North Carolina Governor's School East. He received his bachelor's degree in political science and his law degree at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Paul and his wife, Sara, have 2 children. 

Paul previously worked as a practicing attorney at Delamar & Delamar, PLLC, and Steffan & Associates, PC. 

Paul J. Delamar currently serves as a district court judge in Judicial District 3B. He was elected in 2020 and is serving his first term. He previously served on the Pamlico County Board of Commissioners from 2006 to 2019.
