Jonathan holds both a bachelor's degree in history and a law degree from Wake Forest University. He has children. 

Jonathan currently works as an assistant district attorney at North Carolina (NC) Administrative Office of the Courts. He previously worked as an associate attorney at the Owens, Rouse, and Nelson law firm and as an attorney at the Everett, Warren, Harper & Swindell law firm. 

Jonathan Jones' campaign for district court judge in Judicial District 2 is his first run for public office.
