Gatha Stevenson

Gatha Stevenson was born in Newark, NJ, and moved to Reidsville in the early 70s, where she was raised on her grandfather's farm off highway 158. She attended Reidsville Middle School and later pursued her education at Winston-Salem State University from 1980 to 1984. Gatha is the mother of one son, Dominique Stevenson.

Gatha Stevenson spent most of her professional life in education, teaching for 30 years before retiring in 2018 from Rockingham County Schools. She taught at Moss Street Elementary School for the majority of her career, where she was named Teacher of the Year in 2003. Her career began in 1987 when she was hired by Reidsville City Schools as a teacher at South End Elementary School, where she eventually retired.
