He is married and has 2 children. He is a member of First United Methodist Church in Franklin. He has served as president of Iotla School PTO, president of Franklin Little League Baseball Board, and on the boards of Macon County Youth Soccer Organization, Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce, Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, and Macon County Economic Development Commission.
