Kathy is from Wayne County and graduated from Eastern Wayne High School. She earned her bachelor's degree in youth ministry, Biblical studies, and business from Eastern University and her master's degree in Old Testament from the Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Kathy and her husband have three children. 

Kathy currently works as a curriculum writer for Docent Content Group and as adjunct faculty at Charlotte Christian College and Theological Seminary. She also works as president of the PTA at Spring Creek Elementary School and of Spring Creek Youth Association.
