Robin is from Moore County and attended Pinecrest High School. She holds a bachelor’s degree in middle grades and visual arts K-12 education from Wingate University, a master’s degree in visual arts from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a second master’s degree in instructional technology from East Carolina University. Dr. Calcutt is a lifelong resident of Moore County, having grown up in Pinehurst and graduated from Pinecrest High School. She lives in Southern Pines with her husband, Randy, and they have raised three daughters who all graduated from Union Pines High School. She is a member of the First Baptist Church in Aberdeen. She is also a grandmother, with one grandchild attending West Pine Middle School.

Dr. Calcutt is the current chair and a professor in the Teacher Education department at St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, N.C. She retired from Moore County Schools in 2018 after 34 years of service, where she held positions as a teacher, instructional technology lead-teacher, assistant principal of Union Pines High School, principal of New Century Middle and West Pine Middle Schools, and director of planning, accountability, and research.
