Jane holds a master's degree in agricultural, environmental, and developmental economics from Ohio State University and a doctor of natural resource management degree from Oregon State University. 

Jane currently works as a coastal economics specialist for the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and as a faculty member of the College of Natural Resources and in the Agricultural and Resource Economics Department at North Carolina State University.
