As a trial judge, has tried more capital murder cases than any Kentucky judge.

As a state court of appeals judge since 2018, ensures the law has been applied correctly in state criminal and civil cases, exercises the authority to correct procedural errors or misinterpretations of fact or law by lower appeals and trial courts, and hears applications for court orders that compel and prohibit certain actions by lower courts and government officials.

As a state circuit court judge from 2003 to 2018, oversaw civil cases involving disputes with alleged damages over $5,000, the prosecution of criminal offenses and felonies, the administration of divorce, parental rights, adoption, and domestic abuse proceedings, heard applications for court orders that halt cases as well as compel and prohibit certain actions by government officials, and exercises authority to review and correct the rulings of lower courts.
