He has volunteered for groups such as the Board of Directors of the Associated Builders and Contractors, Site Based Decision Making Council at Ryland Elementary, and various children's sports leagues. He lives with his wife and six children in Ryland Heights, and he attends Hickory Grove Baptist Church.

Chris previously worked as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army and as the operations manager at McD Concrete, a family business he later purchased.
