Matthew is a Northern Kentucky native who graduated from Covington Catholic High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Louisville and a master's degree from Columbia University. He lives with his family in Newport.

Terry attended Northern Kentucky University. He and his family reside in Bellevue, Kentucky. Terry volunteers with the Bellevue Veterans Club, Cincy Smiles and Cincinnati Health Networking, the YMCA Community Service Branch, and other organizations.
