Early County News, Early County native Shawn Harris announces 14th district congressional run

Shawn is from Blakely, Georgia. He has bachelor's degree in Agribusiness from Tuskegee University, a master's degree in Strategic Studies from the Army War College, and a master's in educational leadership from Grand Valley State University. He and his wife, Karla, live in Rockmart. They have five children and four grandchildren. 

Shawn runs a grass-fed cattle farm. He is a retired Brigadier General with the United States Army, having served for 40 years including as an infantry commander in Afghanistan. He was also the Chief of Staff to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in Kosovo. Prior to joining the Army, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He previously taught middle school and was a principal in Michigan public schools.

Shawn General Harris’s campaign for US Representative in Congressional District 14 is his first campaign into politics.
