Kim is currently the lead pastor at the Episcopal Church of the Common Ground in downtown Atlanta.

Kim Jackson was officially sworn into the Georgia Senate on January 11, 2021, to represent Senate District 41, marking her tenure as Georgia’s first LGBTQ State Senator. She was appointed to serve on the Senate standing committees for Public Safety, Natural Resources and the Environment, Government Oversight, and Agriculture and Consumer Affairs. Prior to her current role, she ran for the Georgia State Senate for the first time to replace retiring Senate Minority Leader Steve Henson.
