Anita Hyland's campaign for state representative is her first campaign into politics.

Anita runs her own business, named Anita Buy This, an online company specializing in women's designer handbags. She was previously management for Waffle House, an independent business owner, and a restaurant owner.

Anita attended Old Dominion University for social science. She has a husband, and together they have a son and daughter, as well as 5 grandchildren. She's lived in Newborn since 1993.
