David was raised in Fayette County, Georgia, and graduated from McIntosh High School. He grew up on a farm in rural Georgia, where he learned about farming from his father. David is married to Catherine, and they reside together on Jenkins Farms in Grantville, GA.

David is a retired army officer who served as a Chinook helicopter pilot with the 101st Airborne Division and held various roles including working with the Afghan Air Force. After his military service, he worked as a part-time pilot for the Coweta County Sheriff’s office, a wildland firefighter helicopter pilot with the Georgia Forestry Commission, and currently serves as an Air Ambulance Helicopter pilot. He also manages Jenkins Farms in Grantville, GA.
