Sharon graduated from Trident Technical College with an associate degree in business administration and from Charleston Southern University with a bachelor of science in organizational management. Sharon is a native of Goose Creek, South Carolina and is married to Pastor Jerome Henderson. Together, they have four children.

Sharon has worked as a substitute teacher and Special Needs Paraprofessional in several public schools within District 113, Sharon also worked as the pastor of New Bethel Love Center in Summerville, South Carolina and in the banking and finance industry.
