Mike was born in Chattanooga, and spent of his years in Lookout Valley after moving from Rossville. He graduated from Lookout Valley High School and later earned an associate's degree in business from Chattanooga State, followed by a bachelor's degree in history. He attends Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, and serves as a volunteer at a school in Rossville, Georgia.

Mike began his career at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee, where he worked for 32 years in various roles, including project management and involvement with national workgroups on Medicare Secondary Payer Regulations. He retired from Blue Cross in 2014.

Mike Cameron is currently a state representative for Georgia House District 1. He was elected to this position in 2020, and has served 2 terms in this position.
