Valerie Vanessa Vie's campaign for probate court judge is her first entry into politics.

Valerie is currently the Chief Assistant Solicitor General for Douglas County and has a law practice that specializes in criminal, family and juvenile law. She was previously a prosecutor in Baltimore City. She also served as a special Assistant State's Attorney prior to her licensing in Georgia. She is a member of the Douglas County Bar Association where she was elected the first Black president in August 2010.

Valerie holds a bachelor's degree with a major in psychology and a minor in business administration from Bowie State University. She received her law degree from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University and is licensed to practice law in Maryland and Georgia. She has a daughter.
