Carla holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Business Management from North Carolina State University. She currently resides Cobb County with her husband, with whom they have three children. She currently is on the Georgia Department of Revenue’s Motor Vehicle Advisory Committee and is Chair of the Cobb Chamber’s Honorary Commanders Alumni Association. She previously served as former Chair of the Tax Commissioner’s Technology Development Council (TCTech) and former District 19 Leader of the Georgia Association of Tax Officials (GATO). She is a life member of the Cobb NAACP and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

Carla previously worked as an Auditor at Broniec and Associates audit firm, a Financial Systems Analyst for The Home Depot and Turner Broadcasting System, and a Business Consultant with BP Amoco. She also served as the Business Services Manager with the Cobb County Tax Commissioner's office. 

Carla Jackson is currently the Tax Commissioner in Cobb County. She was elected to this position in 2014, and is serving her third term.

Carla Jackson received her Bachelor's degrees in Accounting and Business Management from North Carolina State University. Carla holds a certificate in Information Technology Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and she is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant. Carla is a life member of the Cobb NAACP and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Carla and her husband have lived in Cobb County for over 30 years and have three adult children.

Carla Jackson began her professional career as an Auditor at Broniec and Associates audit firm. Carla then worked as an Accountant, Accounting Coordinator, and Financial Systems Analyst at The Home Depot before joining Turner Broadcasting System as a Financial Systems Analyst. Carla joined the Tax Commissioner’s office in 2003 as the Business Services Manager and was appointed Chief Deputy in 2012.

Carla Jackson is currently the Tax Commissioner in Cobb County and is running for re-election. Carla has served as Tax Commissioner since 2014.

Tax Commissioners are elected at the county level, and their job is to oversee most phases of the taxing process. These responsibilities include billing, collecting, processing, and distributing taxes. They are generally in charge of property taxes, solid waste fees, public utilities, and renewing your vehicle tag. Notably, the Tax Commissioner does not determine how much taxes you pay. Because taxes are a source of revenue for counties, the tax commissioners’ work is ultimately beneficial to individual cities, education, transportation, and other local services. In addition to administering tax laws, the department is responsible for enforcing laws and  regulations pertaining to the control of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products in Georgia as well as motor vehicle license plate and title administration.
