Kim and her husband Michael D. Gadsden have five children. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Hospitality Management from Strayer University. She serves as a Pastor of Praise and Worship at New Vision Outreach Ministries International. 

Kimberly retired as a Training Administrator with 25 years of service from the Tag Office, where she started in a Tax/Tag Processor and was promoted several times, holding various upper management positions. She was appointed and sworn in as Acting Chief Deputy of the Tax Commissioner’s office in September 2021.
