Ricci graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1982 and enlisted in the Marine Corps, where he served until 1988. Ricci studied Funeral Service and Mortuary Science from 1996 to 1997 at Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service.

Ricci is currently the director of security for Eastside Church and Christian School. He first joined the Cobb County Department of Corrections in 1988, where he served in various positions including a K-9 handler, emergency medical technician, and SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) medic. He served in the Marietta Police Department in Uniform Patrol from 1997 to 2004. Ricci rejoined the Cobb County Police from 2004 to 2019, where he served as a motor instructor.
