Mumbi received Master of Public Health and Doctorate of Education degrees in higher education management from the University of Georgia. She has served on the Live Forward (formerly AIDS Athens) Board of Directors, the Athens-Oconee Heart Walk Leadership Committee, the Athens-Clarke County Vision Committee, and the Athens-Clarke County Overview Commission.
